Our story

Built from inside the community it serves.

Amara didn't start as a business plan. It started with watching seniors in our own community receive care from strangers who didn't speak their language.

Why Amara exists

A different starting point

Most home care agencies are built around logistics — filling shifts, covering territory, managing a roster. Amara was built around a different question: what does it actually feel like to have a stranger in your parent's home who doesn't understand a word they're saying?

That question came from lived experience, not market research. Watching seniors in the Francophone, Haitian, Jamaican, and wider GTA immigrant communities receive care from a revolving door of unfamiliar caregivers — well-meaning, but disconnected — made it clear that something in the model itself needed to change.

"Care given by someone who understands you isn't a luxury add-on. It's the whole point."

So Amara was built around one non-negotiable: the same caregiver, every visit, matched deliberately by language and culture — not assigned by whoever happens to be available.

What we stand for

The principles behind every visit

Dignity, not just service

Every client is treated as a whole person with a history, not a task on a schedule.

Honesty over promises

We say what we will do, and we do it — no overpromising, no vague reassurances.

Community first

Every caregiver we hire and every family we serve strengthens the same community we come from.

How we grow

We acquire and elevate — we don't start from zero

Rather than building a client base one family at a time, Amara's growth model is to acquire established, independently-owned home care agencies across the GTA — agencies with real clients, real caregivers, and years of trusted relationships already in place — and bring them up to the Amara standard.

Your caregiver stays

When we acquire an agency, your relationship with your caregiver doesn't change. What changes is everything around it — better systems, more support, real accountability.

Higher standards, same team

Every acquired agency is brought up to the Amara standard — cultural matching, the Family Dashboard™, and the 48-hour backup guarantee — for a team you already know.

Growth built to last

By acquiring agencies with an existing track record instead of starting from zero, Amara grows responsibly — investing in caregivers and technology rather than spending years building trust from scratch.
